Pray Always, Study And Worship.
The power of faith is what connects us to God and makes Him real to us. Prayer, study and worship are some ways in which you can GROW your faith in and relationship with God.
Here at Yorktown United Methodist Church, we offer many opportunities to help you grow in faith including:
- Bible Study-Book Study
- Sunday School
- Sunday Worship
- Meet with our Pastor (Email to request a meeting)
We think God is interested in knowing, and being known by, each one of us. And while that looks different for every person, we’ve found some rhythms, practices, and ideas that help us to GROW with God.
We Pray Always.
The Prayer of Faith “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” James 5:13-15
If you desired individual prayer during this time, a trained member of YUMC Prayer Team is available to pray with you after the service. Our commitment is to Listen, Love and Pray. You may leave a prayer request here for our Prayer Team.
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7
We Study to Learn.
Bible Study-Book Study
Bible and/or book studies are small group opportunities to study and explore a book in the bible, chosen section within the bible on a particular topic or selected book titles. Regardless of the material selected, our approach is to bring life application through study and sharing what we learn.
Sunday School
Sunday School is offered for pre-school through high school aged students and runs from September to May. The children are encouraged to participate in the service and then are dismissed after the Children’s Message to their respective classes. Additionally, special celebration events (i.e. “Kickoff” Sunday School Party, Christmas Pageant, Christmas Caroling, Easter Egg Hunt and Celebration, Touchdown Sunday Awards program) for children are held throughout the year.
Safe Sanctuary Polices
YUMC adheres to Safe Sanctuary policies to ensure the safety of all children. All volunteers working with our youth must complete the Safe Sanctuary application and screening form. Please review the policies at: www.gbod.org/safesanctuaries
We Are Created to Worship. Worship Opportunities at YUMC:
Sunday Worship Celebration at 10am
This is our time to fuel up! Offering praise and adoration to God through congregational and private worship is our way of showing God we truly love him and appreciate all He does for us. YUMC offers blended worship services that are relevant, creative and engaging. Through beautiful music (contemporary & traditional), scripture, prayer, relevant messages and the visual gift of media, you’ll be encouraged and excited to experience the power of God’s presence. In addition to the sermon, we offer a “Children’s Message” as part of our weekly worship service. Child-care is provided during worship. Also available is a wheelchair-accessible and stroller-friendly ramp for those who may have difficulty with stairs.
Weekly services are planned to deepen your faith. We encourage you to worship with YUMC on a weekly basis. You will find it is a place where the Good News of Jesus Christ are proclaimed and we are invited to encounter God in a variety of ways. If you are interested in joining us for worship or serving in worship, please contact us.
